Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ngannou to Return to the Ring

Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, is set to return to the ring on March 8 in Saudi Arabia for a highly anticipated fight against former WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. The announcement of the fight comes with little surprise, as Ngannou has been vocal about his desire to face Joshua since leaving the UFC in 2023.

Ngannou (17-3) has not competed in MMA since his final UFC fight in January 2022 when he successfully defended his heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane. The Cameroonian-born fighter left the UFC after failing to agree on a new contract with the promotion, and he has since teased a move to boxing.

Joshua (24-3) last fought in August 2022 when he was defeated by Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch of their 2021 fight. The British boxer has held the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO heavyweight titles twice, but he has lost his last two fights to Usyk.
